Good afternoon fellow paper crafter. I'm back today with another card to reach my Level 2 Certification with Altenew AECP. I am extremely happy with the way this card turned out, and I hope you are too! Summer has finally arrived here in the Pacific Northwest, and that is the tone I wanted my card to have.
I am a Texas girl at heart, and there is always sunshine in Texas (even when it's raining). The inspiration for this card came from the Altenew AECP video Beyond Basic Backgrounds instructed by Lydia Evans. This video was a lot of fun, and I would recommend it if you would like some fresh ideas on different background techniques for your card.
The card features an in-laid background on a de-bossed sheet of cardstock. I love the look of an in-laid die. For some extra fun and texture, I debossed the cardstock with Altenew Dotted Scales Debossing Plate. I wanted to leave part of the die-cuts hanging off the edge, so my front card panel is smaller than the card base.
I started by stamping the smallest flowers from the stamp set and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
Next, I used Distress Oxide Ink to blend the ink. I used 3 different colors to give the die-cuts an ombre effect. I chose a cool orange to yellow pallet, however, you can use any color pallet you desire.
Cut your die-cuts from the ink blended sheet of card stock. Next, place your die-cuts on your card panel the way you would like them arranged on your card panel, and use your die to cut the card panel to in-lay the die cut.
Stamp your sentiment using black ink and trim it accordingly. After trimming my sentiment I cut the ends at an angle, and placed it down with foam tape.
Each panel on this card has been adhered using foam tape. I really wanted you to see each layer. To tie both the card base and card front together, I used my distress oxide inks and sprinkled some ink on the card base. (I was really nervous about doing this, but I love the results!)
I used Altenew Simply Hello Die, Altenew Wild & Free Stamp Set, and Altenew Dearest Friend stamp set for the sentiment on this card. This stamp set is one of the first I bought from Altenew, and I have used it for many different projects. You can never have too many flowers!
Tips & Tricks
Use anti static tool before heat embossing for a cleaner result
Use a microfiber towel to wipe the excess ink from the embossing powder
Use tape to hold your die cuts into place
