AECP Level 2: With a Twist

Happy Monday to all of my crafty peeps out there! Today we are celebrating the last submission for my Altenew AECP Level 2; and I am super excited to complete my final and move on to Level 3! Without further ado, here is my card submission for the Altenew AECP With a Twist Video presented by Therese Calvard. The class is full of wonderful ideas on how to give your card a extra little oomph and personality to fit your style.

The class is full of wonderful ideas on how to give your card an extra little oomph before walking out the door! I have recently found an obsession for frameless shaker cards, and decided to apply that technique to this card. This card features a colored panel using Altenew's 3d Seasonal Blooms embossing folder, and Playful Patterns stencil set. I swiped my floral piece with my Versamark pad and added some Altenew translucent pearl embossing powder to add a little kick to my flowers.

Card Supplies

  1. 2 pieces of white cardstock cut 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

  2. Card panel 5 1/2" x 11" scored at 5 1/2"

  3. 3d Embossing folder with a floral image

  4. 6" x 6" piece of acetate scored at 1/4" all the way around

  5. Sequin to fill your pouch

  6. Your choice of mediums to color the floral panel. I used Copic markers to color mine

Card Assembly

  1. Take one piece of 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" cardstock and use your stencil to apply a background. I used Altenew Dew Drop Crisp dye ink for one stencil layer, and Altenew Galactic Stream Crisp dye ink for the second layer of the stencil.

  2. Apply double sided tape to the back side of the stenciled card stock, and adhere your scored acetate sheet to 3 of the 4 sides.

  3. Pour your sequins into the pouch you just created and seal the seam.

  4. Color your embossed panel with your choice of colors. I used the following Copic markers .Large Blue Sunflowers: (B00, B01, B02, B06). Astrid Flowers: (BG00, BG02, BG06) Tulips: (V00, V20, V22, V25) Leaves & Stems: (YG91, YG97, YG99).

  5. Cut embossed image down to fit your card, and treat it with your anti-static embossing tool (light coat of cornstarch will also do the trick). Swipe the panel with your Versamark Ink Pad, and apply the Altenew Translucent Pearl Embossing Powder.

  6. Use double sided foam tape to adhere your floral panel to a corner of the acetate pouch, and place a sentiment of your choice in the center.

  7. I added Altenew Enamel Dots to add just a tad more to my card panel.

Card Hacks

  1. I found it easier to color my embossed panel before trimming it down.

  2. Use a Tomboy sand and rubber eraser for any ink smudges you may accidentally acquire from stenciling.

  3. Most importantly, don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Your card doesn't need to look just like mine. How boring would that be??

I want to thank you all for stopping by today to visit. I do hope you have a wonderful day, and I can't wait to see you soon!
