Greetings fellow crafters! I hope you are having a fantastic day, and I thank you for stopping by today. I have the new Hero Arts August MMH Kit, and I have to say it is an honor to be involved with a company who cares so much about equality! I love this kit, and have several cards to share with you today.
This months kit features a large kaleidoscope rubber background stamp, 3 liquid watercolors, and the stamp and die set. This months stamp set is sentiments for any occasion, and the dies include the word "Love" and the hands featured in the cards above. I am crazy about these hands, and have many more plans on how to use them!
I colored the die cut hands with Copic markers using the following colors:
E00, E02, E13
E13, E17, E18
E18, E77, E79
For the blended ink background I used the following Distress Oxide colors:
Card #1: Background Stamp watercolored
I'm so happy with the final results of this card! I have become extremely fond of watercoloring over the past few months. For me, its about allowing the color to run outside of the lines, and being free with the medium.
For this card I started with a sheet of Canon Watercolor paper cut down the center and stamped the large background stamp from the kit with Versamark Ink, and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Before you start painting you will want to tape down your paper so that it dries flat. I used the wet on wet technique for this card, and applied several layers of the watercolors as the previous layer dried. Once dried, I applied a rough layer of glossy accents.
Card #2: Mini slimline all colors are beautiful
This is my favorite out of the 3 cards I made using this kit. With all of the division in the world this card touched my heart, and made me feel honored about spending my money with Hero Arts!
I started with a blank sheet of Neenah 110# cardstock cut at 3" x 6" and blended the ink starting in the center with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink. Next, I applied Peacock Feathers and blended it up through the yellow to create the green color you. Last, I applied Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink also blending some into the blue to create a darker purple color and a seamless background. Once all of the ink was blended, I used my Distress Sprayer to add some depth to the background and waited for it to dry. (You could also use a piece of watercolor paper for this technique which would allow you to really saturate the paper and apply more water stain than I did using regular card stock.)
Once the background piece was dry I adhered the hand die-cuts up the length of the card using double sided foam tape to give it some added dimension. I applied some bling to create jewelry on the hands just for a little bit something different. Next, I heat embossed the heart stamp included with the kit using some WOW embossing powder, and adhered it to the center of the hands on top and bottom and added some bling to finish it off.
I decided to shake things up a little bit for the last card I made, and made a shaker card. This is an A2 sized card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and the card panel is measured at 4" x 5 1/4". I used the same colors to create an ink blended background for this card, and cut a heart with my Hero Arts Heart shaped infinity dies. Next, I cut a piece of acetate 4 1/2" x 6" and scored 1/4" around each side. Using double sided tape I placed the acetate (attaching only 3 sides down) on a green colored sheet of cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and created a pocket, and filled it with some sequin and adhering down.
I stamped the sentiment "you are the best" in the corner using my mini Misti to ensure the sentiment was dark enough. I placed the die-cut hands in position and used another heat embossed heart to place in the center of the hands.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope that you enjoyed your visit today. I certainly look forward to having you back.
